The University Honors Program draws on the riches of the Catholic intellectual tradition in philosophy, theology, science, social science and humanities.

History and anthropology majors in the Honors Program may be especially interested in the Honors track in Humanities, a four-course interdisciplinary sequence that explores the connection between great texts and ideas and their historical context from the foundation of the Church to the present. These courses integrate history, art, and literature to create a well-rounded view of the past.  A history major can count any or all four of the courses in the Honors Program’s Humanities track as 300-level electives toward the history B.A. or minor, and the first three courses in the track meet the history major’s requirement for courses dealing with pre-1800 history. For Anthropology majors, the Critical Exploration of Social Reality honors sequence may be of particualr interest; HSSS101: Person and Community in the Social Sciences can even serve as an equivalent to ANTH 101.

For history or anthropology majors, the Honors Program is thus a perfect combination!
